A bouquet of deep red roses, tulips and lily-like blooms fills a squat golden-yellow vase, with a few small white flowers and grey-green sprigs tucked between them. Two fallen blooms rest on a brown tabletop at the base. The flowers are softly modelled with visible brushy texture, in a still life style.
The scene sits inside a dark-edged square panel set against a creamy, cloudy background. Around it runs a wide border of crackled, parchment-like beige and ochre, with clusters of small red roses and leaves in each corner. The palette is warm throughout: crimson, rust, gold and cream, with muted green accents.
