Tall, slender trunks rise on both sides of the image, their crowns thick with olive green, ochre and yellow leaves. The trunks lean slightly and are lit along one edge in pale gold. Between the two groups a pale sky opens, with soft blue patches and cream clouds.
Across the middle, a long band of deep red trees sits against a grey-blue haze, with a few dark navy shrubs at its base. In the foreground a narrow creek winds from the lower left toward the red trees, catching pink and silver light. Dry olive and mustard grass fills the banks. The surface looks like layered brushwork with a canvas-weave texture.
