About Crossing The Stream
A portrait-format rural scene built from loose, semi-transparent layers. A pale cream waterway or track sweeps in from the lower right and curves back toward the centre, dividing a broad green meadow from a soft bank on the left. A full, round-topped tree in yellow-green sits at the middle left, with a smaller shrub beside it and a low dark treeline running along the horizon. Above, the sky is washed in chalky white, grey and a band of pale turquoise near the top edge.
The lower foreground breaks into looser marks of magenta, plum, ochre and olive, with scraped and dragged texture and thin drips running down the left side. Edges of raw white ground are left exposed around the borders, so the scene feels sketched rather than closed in. The character is quiet and unhurried: a soft, atmospheric country view where colour is suggested rather than described, with just enough bright pink and gold to keep it from feeling plain.
Suits a living room above a linen sofa, a main bedroom over the bedhead, or a home office wall that needs calm. Works with pale timber, rattan and off-white walls, and picks up green in plants or cushions. Good in beach house and country-style interiors where a portrait shape fills a narrow wall.
