About De Vous à Moi I
A square composition holds a single stylised African woman, shown from the waist up and turned in profile. Her skin is warm brown, her hair rises in coiled black curls tied with pale cord, and a large gold hoop earring hangs from her ear. Across her chest sits a wide beaded collar of orange, blue and turquoise dots with a teardrop pendant, matched by banded cuffs on her upper arm and wrist. In her hand she holds two round-headed stems.
The background is a mottled ochre and rust wash covered in a fine crackle pattern, with faint scratched marks and shadowy shapes suggesting old plaster or cave wall. The overall character is calm and decorative: a quiet, seated figure whose bright beadwork does all the talking against a weathered earth-toned ground.
Suits warm, earthy interiors: rooms with rattan, timber, terracotta pots and woven baskets. Works above a sideboard in a hallway, in a bedroom beside linen bedding, or in a beach house lounge.
