About Deep Forest
A square canvas filled edge to edge with green, worked in layers so no two areas read the same. The centre lifts into a soft pale column of sage and mint, as though light is falling through leaves, while the corners and lower left sink into near-black forest tones. The surface is heavily worked with a palette knife and dragged brush, leaving a crushed, bark-like grain with small ridges catching the light. Short vertical strokes run down the upper half; broader smears pool near the base.
There is no drawn subject here, only depth: a quiet, moody green field that changes with the light in the room.
Works in a living room above a linen or charcoal sofa, in a study, or at the end of a hallway where a single square anchors the wall. Sits well with timber furniture, brass or black metal, rattan and terracotta pots. The deep green suits white, cream or clay-coloured walls, and warms up a cool, minimal room.
