A long-exposure photograph looks straight down a ruined timber pier. Only the bare cross beams and posts remain, stepping away from the bottom edge toward a thin dark shoreline on the horizon. The wood is pale and weathered, with green moss and rusty fixings on the nearest beam.
The water has been smoothed to a flat, milky sheet, holding soft blue-grey on the left and a salmon pink glow on the right. Above it the sky shifts from deep blue to peach and apricot streaks near the horizon. The mood is calm, quiet and cool-toned, with warm light only in the sky and its reflection.
