A wave rushes up a dark, wet beach and the long exposure turns the foam into soft white streaks that fan out towards the camera. The sand in the lower left is smooth and brown, with a few small shells scattered across it. The low angle puts the moving water right in the foreground.
Beyond the surf the sea is deep teal and blue, with small breaking waves running back to a level horizon. Above it the sky shifts from rich blue at the top through pale yellow to a band of red and orange glowing along the horizon. Small pink clouds sit in the upper left corner. It is a photograph with cool and warm tones in balance.
