This black and white photograph looks up at the Eiffel Tower from a gravel path in a Paris park. The tower rises through the centre of a tall portrait frame, its lattice legs, first-level platform and arch clearly sharp against a pale, cloudy sky.
Bare branches hang across the top left and spill in from the right, with small round seed balls dotting the twigs. A cast-iron lamp post stands in the foreground on the right, and tiny figures walk beneath the trees in the distance. Greys are soft and the contrast is gentle.
