About Eiffel Tower Night Lights
The Eiffel Tower stands slightly right of centre, lit end to end in warm gold, its lattice ironwork picked out in fine detail from the four splayed legs to the beacon at the summit. Behind it a long-exposure sky of purple-grey and charcoal cloud streaks across the frame, broken by patches of near-black. Along the far bank, low buildings, bare winter trees and a string of small street lights run left to right, with the arches of a stone bridge closing the right-hand edge.
The Seine fills the lower third, its surface carrying long vertical smears of gold, green and violet reflected from the tower and the quayside lamps. Tones are deep and saturated, with the bright tower held against dark water and sky. The mood is calm rather than busy: a still, cold evening in Paris, with movement only in the drifting cloud and the rippled reflections.
Works in a lounge room or hallway with charcoal, navy or warm grey walls, and suits a bedroom where the gold tones pick up brass lamps or timber.
