A full vintage map of New York State fills the frame, with the word "NEW YORK" in bold black capitals at the top left. Counties are tinted in soft pink, yellow, orange and green, each outlined and crowded with fine place names, railway lines and rivers.
Lake Ontario and Lake Erie sit pale grey-blue along the left and upper edge, while the St Lawrence appears at the top. Two inset maps at the lower left enlarge the New York City area and Long Island, both beside the Atlantic Ocean. The paper has a creamy, aged tone with a faint centre fold, and grid letters and numbers run around the border.
