About Eyes of a Lion
A male lion lies on bare, dusty ground and turns his head straight towards the camera. His mane runs from deep chocolate brown at the crown and sides to lighter gold and ginger where the sun catches it, with individual hairs standing out against the soft, out-of-focus background. Amber eyes with dark rims sit at the centre of the frame, and fine scar lines and creases mark the bridge of his nose. One front paw stretches into the lower right corner, toes relaxed on the grit.
The background is a wash of pale grey-brown earth and scattered small stones, kept soft so all sharpness stays on the face. Tones are warm and dry throughout: sand, tan, dark brown and the paler cream of his muzzle whiskers. The mood is calm rather than threatening, a resting animal holding a steady, direct gaze that reads as watchful and quietly confident from anywhere in the room.
Works in a living room above a leather sofa, in a home office behind the desk, or in a bedroom where the warm browns pick up timber and linen. Pairs with rattan, jute rugs, tan leather and other wildlife or safari photographs. Large sizes suit a hallway wall where the lion's gaze meets you as you walk past.
