Two large fern fronds cross the right side of a square composition, their olive-green leaflets arranged in fine rows along curved central stems. The taller frond arcs from the top centre down to the lower right, while a shorter one sits in front of it on the left.
The background is split into two panels. A narrow tan strip on the left carries a pale silhouette of a slender leafy sprig, and the wider panel is a deep plum brown. Faint grey-green round leaves fade across the top, and a coarse woven burlap texture shows through every colour.
