About Finish Line
The canvas is filled edge to edge with a warm ochre ground that has been worked with a loaded brush and palette knife, leaving a grainy, plaster-like surface. Two tall rectangles of mustard gold sit in the upper half. The left block is outlined in dark brown and carries three small rust-red squares stacked evenly down its centre. The right block is broader, unmarked, and casts a dark shadow line along its lower edge, as though standing slightly proud of the wall behind it.
Between and beside the blocks run two sets of thin vertical lines scored into the paint, one single pale stripe at centre and a group of four at the right. The character is quiet and architectural: an earth-toned, low-contrast composition that reads more as marked wall or weathered panel than as picture.
Suits warm, pared-back rooms: a hallway with limewashed or clay-toned walls, a dining room above a timber sideboard, or a bedroom with linen bedding. It works alongside rattan, terracotta pots, aged leather and brass lamps, and holds its own as a single piece on a broad wall.
