Four separate feathers stand upright in a row on a plain white background, each with a different pattern. The first is white with grey barring and a small red tip. The second is the largest, banded in mustard yellow and charcoal with a fringe of fine fluff at its base.
The third is a narrow feather with a speckled grey and brown vane, and the fourth is nearly solid black with a pale central shaft. Fine pen lines and stippled dots define the barbs, and soft watercolour washes fill the colour. The white space around each quill keeps the set light and easy to read.
