A large ferris wheel rises in the upper right, its white spokes and orange gondolas set against a sky that moves from lilac at the top to bright lemon yellow near the horizon. Beside it, a blue pavilion with a teal roof sits on a pier, its dark underside held up by rust-red timber piles.
The sun sits low over the water at left, throwing a pale yellow reflection across the wet sand and shallow surf. In the foreground, the beach is worked in warm ochre and gold, crossed by long blue and purple shadows from the pier. Loose, visible brushstrokes give the scene a bold, colourful, painterly feel.
