This is a close, top-down photograph of rippled sand filling the whole frame. The ridges run in long, wavering diagonal lines from the lower left towards the upper right, splitting and rejoining as they go. There is no horizon, sky or water, so the pattern becomes the entire subject.
Low, warm light catches the crest of each ridge in gold and amber, while the hollows between them fall into deep brown and near black. The strong contrast gives the sand a sculpted, almost fabric-like texture. Small grains and fine cracks are visible on the flatter patches, and the palette stays in a tight range of honey, bronze and chocolate.
