A row of weathered timber posts runs from the left foreground toward the horizon, each one cracked and grooved with age. The posts shrink in size as they recede, which pulls the eye along the beach to a thin line of sea in the distance. The photograph is in black and white.
Low sun throws a fan of long, narrow shadows across the sand beside the posts, and a band of dark shade crosses the bottom of the frame. Small shells and pebbles dot the sand. Soft white cumulus clouds sit against a dark sky, and low waves break along the far shoreline.
