About Haute Chapeau Rouge II
A woman is shown in profile from the chest up against a flat red background. She wears a wide-brimmed black hat with a sweeping curved brim that fills the top third of the square, and a black sleeveless top with wide straps over pale skin. Long black gloves cover both arms: the left hand holds an open lipstick case, the right hand raises the bullet of red lipstick toward her mouth. A single drop earring in silver-grey catches light beside her jaw.
The only strong colour notes are the red field behind her and the matching red of her lips and lipstick, so the eye travels straight between them. Soft streaking across the hat brim and background keeps the flat colour from looking mechanical. The mood is poised and graphic, a piece of classic fashion illustration reduced to black, white and red.
