About Horizon Tree
A single bare tree stands just right of centre on a low, flat horizon, its fine winter branches spreading into a rounded crown that reads as dark lace against the sky. Below it the ground is almost solid black, a ploughed field running edge to edge with a thin line of distant hedgerow and one smaller tree at the far left. The upper two thirds of the frame is sky: banded cloud in soft greys, brighter breaks near the horizon, and a lighter wash climbing toward the top corners.
The image is quiet and still, carried by the contrast between the delicate branch detail and the heavy dark land. It has the calm, slightly wintry mood of late afternoon in open country.
Suits bedrooms, hallways and home offices where a calm, uncluttered image works better than colour. The portrait shape fits narrow wall sections, between windows or above a bedhead. Pairs with grey linen, pale timber, black metal frames and other monochrome photography in a simple two or three piece grouping.
