About Imperial Dog
A broad-headed pit bull type dog fills the frame, head on, mouth open in a wide grin with a long pale pink tongue hanging down the centre. The face is broken into patches of turquoise, lime, yellow, violet and magenta, laced with black outlines, scribbled lines, dots, stars and small spirals across the muzzle and chest. A soft pink nose sits at the centre. Above the head floats a gold crown with a beaded blue and pink band. The background shifts from lilac at the top to coral pink at the base, scattered with pale circles.
The mood is cheerful and graphic rather than realistic, with the dog's expression doing most of the work. Bold black linework holds the riot of colour together, giving the piece a street-poster punch.
Suits a kids' room, playroom or teenager's bedroom, and works just as well in a home office or laundry where a bit of humour helps.
