About India Elephant I
A dark charcoal elephant walks to the right across a plain cream background, its trunk curled upward and mouth open to show two short cream tusks. Over its back lies a saddle cloth: a deep navy panel filled with fine gold and olive scrolling foliage, edged by a wide burnt-orange border dotted with red, white and green beads. A beaded headpiece with red stones sits above the eye, tassels hang at the cheek, and gold anklets ring the front legs. Loose olive-green brushstrokes suggest grass beneath the feet.
The character is calm and ornamental rather than wild: a single animal drawn in the flat, finely detailed manner of Indian miniature illustration, with the cream ground left empty so the patterned textile carries all the colour.
Suits a kids room, a hallway or a living room with rattan, timber and linen. It sits well against white or soft clay walls, and pairs with other Indian-inspired illustration prints, brass lamps and block-print cushions.
