Three large open blooms fill this square watercolour in a single tone of slate blue. The central flower faces forward with a dark, almost black centre ringed by fine stamens and scattered dots of pigment. A second bloom is cropped at the upper left, its spiky stamens radiating outward.
Soft washes pool and fade across the petals, leaving pale areas where the white paper shows through, with darker blue edges and faint veining. Layered ruffled petals crowd the upper right, and a thin curved stem runs down the right side. The background is plain white, so the flowers feel loose, wet and translucent.
