A single iris flower seen from above fills the square, rendered in black, white and grey like an X-ray. Six pointed petals fan out in a loose spiral from a dense, near-black centre, and the whole bloom sits on a plain white background with nothing else around it.
The petals look translucent. Fine pale veins run along each one from the centre to the tip, and darker shadowed edges give the petals a papery, layered feel. The tonal contrast is strong, with the heavy dark core pulling the eye in and the lighter outer petals fading toward the white. It reads as a black and white photograph with an inverted, scanned quality.

The quality of the work is ten out of ten. The piece was affordable and the turnaround time was quite quick. What you see is what you get. I’ll definitely be getting my next painting from Direct Art Australia.
My wife already had a couple of pieces of custom ordered paintings she had collected throughout the last few years and with your large selection to choose from she found the perfect complimentary piece to finish off her room.
Great painting. Brightens up my living room.
