About Japanese Cherry Flower
Thin brown branches enter from the left edge and the lower right corner, forking into fine twigs that reach toward the centre of the composition. Each twig carries clusters of small five-petalled blossoms in hot pink, magenta and coral, with tiny gold and orange dots marking the stamens. Behind them the sky is washed in blush pink that cools to pale blue and white down the right side, the pigment pooling and streaking as watercolour does on damp paper. Speckles of pink and blue float loosely near the lower branches.
The mood is quiet and airy rather than dense, with most of the right half left open as soft colour. It reads as a fragment of a spring tree seen from below, delicate in detail but broad and loose in its background washes.
Suits bedrooms, nurseries, hallways and home offices where the wall colour is white, soft grey or pale blush. It sits well above a bedhead or a narrow console, and pairs with pale timber, cane, linen bedding and brushed brass. Group it with other botanical prints, or hang it alone as the single spot of colour in a neutral room.
