A timber jetty runs straight out from the bottom of the frame towards the horizon. Its planks are bleached and worn, with dark gaps between each board. Green-painted metal pipes line both edges, and rusted posts lean along the sides, with a short railing at the far end.
Waves rush in from both sides, and a long exposure has smeared the foam into soft white streaks. The water is a muted teal and grey-green, with dark rocks showing at lower left. Above a thin horizon the sky fades from pale pink to cream, giving this photograph a calm, quiet light over rough water.
