About Just Heel On
A single fine line runs from the top of the canvas down a pair of long legs, closing at two strapped stilettos balanced on the toes. Above the legs sits a loose charcoal shape reading as a wide-brimmed hat, drawn with one sweeping dark ellipse and a soft grey wash pushed to the left. Zig-zag flicks along the inner leg suggest a hemline or seam. Broken grey brush strokes pool beneath the shoes as a shadow. The background is left bare white.
Restrained and graphic: almost everything is implied rather than drawn, and the only weight in the picture sits in the hat and the shoes. It reads as fashion illustration held to two tones.
Suits a dressing room, walk-in robe, bedroom or hallway, and works well in a boutique or salon fit-out. The bare white ground sits cleanly on pale plaster or grey walls, and pairs with black powder-coated mirrors, chrome or brass lamps, and a second monochrome line piece hung alongside it.
