About Crimson Blossom Tree
A single slender tree leans in from the lower left, its dark brown trunk built up in ridged knife strokes that curve upward before splitting into fine branches. The canopy fills the top two thirds of the canvas with dozens of red blossoms, each laid on as a thick disc of paint with a small dab of yellow at the centre. Smaller buds and loose petals scatter towards the edges and drift down the right side, giving the impression of blossom falling.
The background is worked in sweeping ochre and gold, streaked with darker brown where the knife has dragged the paint sideways and let the canvas weave show through. Highlights catch along the raised edges of every petal, so the surface changes as light moves across it. The character is bold and decorative: strong red against warm metallic gold, with real physical relief you can see from an angle.
Suits a dining room, entry wall or lounge where warm tones already appear in timber floors, leather or brass. It reads well against cream, charcoal or deep green walls, and pairs with a dark timber sideboard, rattan seating or a red-toned rug.
