About Radiant Forest Canopy
A stand of thin, dark trees rises from the lower edge and spreads into an arched canopy across the top of the canvas. The foliage is built entirely from short palette-knife strokes: scarlet and orange through the centre, lime and emerald down the left and right margins, cobalt and violet along the outer corners, with slate grey knife marks clustered at the top. Behind the trunks a pale cream and yellow glow opens up, as though light is pushing through the timber from the far side.
The paint sits high off the surface, each stroke left with its own ridge and edge rather than blended, so the leaves read as separate flecks of colour. Its character is bright and energetic, a forest reduced to light and colour with just enough drawn trunks to hold the scene together.
Works well above a sofa in a neutral lounge room, in an entry hall or a dining area with white or pale grey walls, where the reds and limes carry across the room. Pairs with timber furniture, black metal legs, and plain linen or leather. Also suits a reception wall or open-plan kitchen island wall.
