About Cypress Meadow Blooms
A broad meadow fills the lower two thirds of this square canvas, packed with white blossoms laid on in short palette-knife dabs over yellow-green and acid-lime grass. A pale dirt track curves in from the left and disappears behind a row of flowering shrubs. Behind them stand five slim dark cypresses, spaced along the middle distance, with soft blue-grey hills and a wide band of cream cloud above. A small patch of turquoise sky breaks through at the upper left.
A tall green foreground grass edge is scraped upward in vertical strokes, with flecks of lilac and violet scattered among the white petals. The paint sits high on the surface, so the flower heads catch light as separate ridges rather than blended marks. The overall character is bright and open: a warm spring field with clear Tuscan cues in the cypress line.
Suits a living room with white or pale grey walls, a dining room above a light timber sideboard, or a bedroom that needs more brightness. The yellow-greens work with linen upholstery, rattan and brass; the dark cypresses give it enough weight to sit beside black-framed photographs or a charcoal sofa.
