About Lavender Field Path
A narrow terracotta path enters at the lower left and curves back through the middle of the canvas, dividing two beds of lavender. The right-hand bed is the largest, built from short violet and blue knife strokes with dabs of orange, yellow and red flowers along its front edge. Behind the lavender runs a band of gold wheat, then a green meadow with round-crowned trees in bright yellow-green. Blue-grey hills sit low on the horizon under a pale sky with thin cloud.
Thick paint is laid on flat with the knife, so ridges catch light across the flowers and the path. It is a bright, high-key country scene with strong colour contrast between violet, gold and green.
Works in a living room, dining room or hallway where the violet and gold can carry a plain wall. Suits white, oatmeal or sage interiors, timber furniture and linen upholstery. The square shape fits neatly above a sideboard, a two-seater sofa or a bedhead, and pairs well with other knife-painted florals.
