About Tuscan Yellow Field
A broad field of bright yellow flowers fills the middle of this square canvas, running from a grassy green foreground up to a line of trees and low hills. Four slim cypresses stand near the lower left, painted in dark green with vertical knife strokes, and beside them sits a round shrub covered in lilac and white blossom laid on in short thick dabs. A pale farmhouse with a terracotta roof shows through the trees at the centre, with an orange-leaved tree to its left. Small red poppies flicker along the bottom edge.
The paint sits high on the surface, with ridged knife marks across the yellow field and soft, thinned strokes in the hazy blue and cream sky. It reads as a warm, sunlit country scene with a calm, unhurried mood.
Suits a dining room, hallway or north-facing living room where the yellow field can carry the wall.
