About White Blossom Vase
A tall black vase sits low in the square canvas, its sides built up in glossy black strokes broken by horizontal flicks of white. From it bursts a wide, rounded bouquet of small white flowers, each one a cluster of five thick palette-knife petals with a dab of yellow or grey at the centre. Bright green leaf marks and sweeping black and white stems push outward between the blooms, and loose petals scatter across the background as single raised dots.
The background is layered in grey and pale silver blocks, applied with a knife so the surface reads like brickwork under the flowers. The overall character is graphic and heavily textured: a simple black, white and grey scheme lifted by yellow flower centres and quick green accents.
Works above a sideboard in a grey or white living room, in a hallway, or over a bed with charcoal linen. The black vase ties in with black window frames, matte black lamps and dark timber, while the green leaf flecks suit rooms with indoor plants. Good above a white console.
