About Blossom Market Morning
A grove of slender-trunked trees fills the upper half of the square canvas, their canopies built from thousands of small knife-loaded petals. The trees on the left carry dense turquoise and aqua foliage flecked with white; those on the right are soft pink. Below them a lime-green field slopes to the lower edge, meeting a pale, almost white sky. Small figures in conical hats stand among the trees: two beside a heaped basket of flowers on the left, three in white, pink and orange robes at the right.
Petals drift across the sky as scattered dots, and faint vertical reflections under each figure suggest wet ground. The overall character is light and quiet, with the strong colour contrast of blue against pink doing all the work.
Suits bedrooms, nurseries and light-filled living rooms with white or pale grey walls. The lime-green field and aqua canopies sit well with natural timber furniture, linen bedding and rattan.
