About Rainbow Canopy
A tall, narrow canvas holds a single slender tree pushed to the left, its dark trunk rising from deep green undergrowth and splitting into thin bare branches that fan across the upper half. Behind it the canopy is built from thick knife-laid slabs of colour: turquoise and mint at the top left, violet and magenta down the left edge, scarlet and orange filling the right, and a soft white-yellow glow burning through the middle like light behind foliage. A second, smaller tree stands to the right.
There is no sky, horizon or detail beyond the foliage, so the painting reads as an abstracted view up into a forest. Ridges of paint catch the light, giving the surface real texture, while the near-black branches hold the colour together.
The tall, narrow shape suits a stairwell wall, hallway end, entry beside a door or the space between two windows. It works in a living room with plain white or grey walls, timber floors and neutral linen furniture, and picks up accents in rust, teal or plum cushions and rugs.
