About Rainbow Harbour Sails
A row of narrow sailing boats stands across the centre of the canvas, their masts and sails built from single upright pulls of the palette knife. The colours run left to right like a spectrum: sea green and teal at the far left, then yellow and orange, a block of scarlet and crimson in the middle, then violet, cobalt and magenta towards the right, where a larger red hull sits with a small cabin. Behind them the sky is thick chalk-white and pale pink, scraped in vertical strokes.
Below the waterline the same colours repeat as broken horizontal smears, so the reflections read as ripples rather than mirror images. The paint is left heavily ridged, catching light along every knife edge. The overall character is bright and energetic, a harbour reduced to colour and movement with no fussy detail.
Suits a white or pale grey lounge room, a hallway that needs a hit of colour, or above a sideboard in an open-plan dining space. It works with coastal interiors, timber furniture and linen upholstery, and pairs well with plain cushions in one or two of its colours rather than competing patterns.
