About Crimson Mosaic
The canvas is filled edge to edge with small squares and rough rectangles laid down with a palette knife, packed together like tiles on a wall. Each block sits slightly apart from the next, with narrow black and deep maroon gaps running between them so the grid never becomes rigid. Colour shifts across the width: deep blood reds along the left and right edges, warming through scarlet to hot orange and near-yellow through the middle band, where the paint catches the most light.
Texture carries the work. Ridges of thick paint sit up off the surface at the knife edges, and thinner scrapes let darker underpainting show through. The long panoramic format turns the whole thing into a band of glowing colour rather than a single focal point.
Built for a long wall: above a three-seater sofa, along a hallway, or over a sideboard in a dining room. The red reads strongest against white, pale grey or charcoal walls, and sits well with black metal, dark timber and leather. Pair with warm lamp light and keep surrounding decor quiet.
