About Mosaic Light Burst
The canvas is built entirely from small square dabs of thick paint, each pressed on with the flat of a palette knife so the edges stand proud of the surface. Light gathers at the centre in a near-white patch, then spreads outward through lemon yellow and gold. To the left the squares shift into orange, scarlet and deep maroon; to the right they cool into cobalt and navy blue, with pale blue flecks catching the light. A few stray red and gold tiles sit among the blue, and blue tiles stray into the gold.
The effect is mosaic-like rather than painterly: colour is broken into units and read as a glow radiating from the middle of a wide canvas. Its character is bold and warm on one side, cool and quiet on the other, held together by that single bright core.
The 2:1 shape suits a long wall above a three-seater sofa, a sideboard in an entry hall, or the space above a bedhead. The red and blue reads well against white, pale grey or charcoal walls, and pairs with timber furniture, brass lamps and plain linen upholstery rather than busy patterns.
