About Ember Glow
The canvas is built from hundreds of short, flat palette knife strokes laid side by side like small tiles. At the centre, cream and pale gold marks cluster into a bright vertical core, as though light is burning through from behind. Around it the tiles shift to amber and orange, then to scarlet and deep crimson, and finally to a near-black brown that darkens the four corners. The paint sits thick enough to catch raking light, with ridges and scraped edges left visible.
There is no drawn subject, only the movement from dark edge to blazing middle. The character is warm and intense, closer to firelight or molten metal than to anything quiet.
Suits a lounge room with warm timber or charcoal walls, above a dark leather sofa or a fireplace. The near-black border settles it against grey and cream paint, while the gold centre picks up brass lamps, tan leather and rust cushions.
