About Sunlit Poppy Meadow
A wide field of red poppies fills the lower two thirds of the canvas, with tall grass blades flicked upward in olive, yellow-green and lime. Dozens of poppies sit at different depths, the largest blooms near the front edge painted as short red strokes laid side by side, the smallest reduced to dots along the horizon line. Above them the sky is pale blue, and a white sun has been swirled into it with the knife in concentric circles that catch light across the surface.
The whole picture is built with a palette knife, so paint stands off the canvas in ridges and the grass has real direction and movement. It reads as bright and uncomplicated, a summer meadow reduced to red, green and light.
Works in a living room above a low sideboard, in a bright kitchen or dining area, or in a bedroom facing a window where the raised paint picks up daylight. Pairs with white or pale grey walls, timber furniture, linen and rattan. The red blooms lift neutral rooms without needing any other colour on the wall.
