About Crimson Birch Avenue
Two rows of slender birch trunks line a path that narrows to a vanishing point at the centre of the canvas. The trunks are built from thick white, cream and pale ochre knife strokes broken by short black bark marks, with bare branches scratched upward into a sky of solid crimson and scarlet. A white-hot sun sits just above the horizon, ringed by swirled yellow and orange paint, with a second smaller band of orange light glowing lower down between the trees.
The path itself is laid in horizontal knife drags of red, rose, orange and dark maroon, catching reflected light like wet ground. Paint stands proud of the surface throughout, so raking light picks up ridges along every trunk. The character is bold and graphic: one colour pushed hard, with a strong central perspective that pulls the eye straight into the sun.
Works as a single focal piece on a plain white or grey wall in a lounge room, dining room or entry hall. The strong red suits dark timber floors, charcoal sofas and black metal furniture, and it lifts a neutral scheme without needing other artwork nearby.
