About Ember Sky Tree
A bare tree fills the whole width of the canvas, its trunk rising from the lower left and bending hard to the right so the limbs sweep almost horizontally across the sky. The branches are painted in cool pale grey and silver with dark outlines, thinning into fine black twigs at the edges. Behind them the sky burns red and orange, with a bright yellow-white glare breaking through near the centre and again low on the right, above a narrow strip of olive ground.
The left third is cooler and darker, all smoke grey and blue-black, so the fire seems to be moving in from the right. Thick knife-laid paint gives the trunk visible ridges while the sky is scrubbed in flat, streaky layers. The overall character is dramatic and weather-driven: a wind-bent tree caught in a sky that looks lit from behind.
Suits a lounge room or dining wall with plain white, grey or charcoal paint, where the red reads as the single strong colour. The long panoramic shape works above a three-seater sofa, a sideboard or a bedhead. Pairs with dark timber, black steel frames, leather and neutral linen upholstery.
