About Blue Blossom Tree
A slim black trunk enters at the bottom edge, curves to the right and tapers as it climbs the tall canvas, with thin branches reaching out across the top corners. Hundreds of blossoms are laid on in thick knife strokes of cobalt, mid blue and pale sky blue, many finished with a small white or cream dot at the centre. The background is built from short, dragged strokes of warm grey, putty and off-white, with darker grey blocks near the base suggesting shadow beneath the tree.
Blossoms drift loose from the canopy and scatter down the left side and lower right, so the paint sits high off the surface and catches light. The effect is graphic and calm: a single strong shape in black and blue against a quiet grey field.
The narrow vertical shape suits a hallway end wall, a stairwell, the space beside a front door, or a bedroom chimney breast. The grey ground works with putty and concrete-look walls, oak or walnut furniture, and linen bedding, while the cobalt petals pick up navy cushions, blue ceramics or a patterned rug.
