About Golden Aspen Grove
Slim aspen trunks stand across the full width of the canvas, their pale cream and green-white bark marked with dark knots and short broken branches. Above them a dense canopy of yellow and orange leaves fills almost the entire upper half, broken by only a few chips of grey-white sky near the top edge. The forest floor is worked in rust red, burnt orange and olive scrub, with loose dabs suggesting low bushes and fallen leaf litter between the trunks.
The leaves are laid in with short flat strokes and knife-pressed patches so the gold sits thick on the surface, while the trunks are drawn in longer vertical pulls of paint. It reads as a warm, light-filled autumn woodland, bright and open rather than shadowy.
Suits a living room with timber floors, a hallway that needs warmth, or a dining wall above a sideboard. The gold and rust work with cream, tan leather, rattan and dark timber furniture, and lift rooms with grey or white walls.
