About Orange Bloom Burst
A round bouquet fills the upper two thirds of the canvas, built from hundreds of separate orange petals laid on with a palette knife so each one stands proud of the surface. Yellow flicks and small dark dots sit between the blooms, and thin orange and yellow drips run down towards the lower edge. The flowers sit in a squat rounded vase painted in black, deep red, blue and yellow, with fine scratched lines cut through the wet paint. Behind it, grey and white strokes sweep in wide circles, darkening to near black at the corners.
The character is bold and physical: a single hot mass of orange held in place by a cool grey spiral, with texture you can read from across the room.
Works above a sideboard in a hallway or dining room where the orange can carry a long view, and over a dark grey or charcoal lounge suite. The black and white background sits comfortably with monochrome photography, stainless steel or chrome light fittings, and warm timber furniture with black metal legs.
