About White Blossom Tree
A blossom tree fills the canvas, its dark trunk rising just right of centre and disappearing into a wide canopy of white flowers. Each bloom is built from four or five thick knife-loaded petals with a small dab of ochre or amber at the centre, and the paint stands proud of the surface so the flowers cast real shadows. Loose petals fall in single drops down the left and right edges. The background is laid in blocky knife strokes: pale teal and soft blue-green on the left, warm copper, rust and burnt orange on the right.
Bold and tactile, it reads as a decorative tree study where the texture does as much work as the colour, with the cool-to-warm background split giving it a graphic edge.
Works above a sofa in a living room where teal cushions or a rust rug pick up the background, and suits a hallway or dining wall that needs one strong focal piece.
