About Poppy Field Farmhouse
A wide field of red poppies fills the lower half of the canvas, laid down in short knife strokes so each bloom sits up off the surface. Bands of yellow run through the middle of the field, catching the light where the ground rises. Behind it a strip of pale green pasture leads to a white farmhouse with red-tiled roofs, flanked by an orange-leafed tree and low shrubs in red and lime green. Soft blue-grey hills fade into a high, almost colourless sky.
The character is warm and bright rather than still, with the ridged paint making the flowers read as movement across an open field on a hazy, light-filled day.
The long, low format suits a wall above a sideboard, a three-seater sofa or a bedhead. Warm reds and yellows work well with cream or putty walls, timber floors, rattan and linen.
