About Poppy Field Rise
A tall upright canvas looks up a gentle slope covered in red poppies. The nearest flowers sit heaviest at the bottom, built from thick knife-loaded dabs of scarlet and crimson with small white and yellow centres, mixed with pale cream blooms and stalks of olive and burnt orange grass. Behind them the red breaks into horizontal bands that thin out as the field climbs, crossed by strips of yellow-gold stubble. A dark green tree sits at the left edge, with low blue-grey hills and a soft lilac-white sky closing the top third.
The paint sits high and broken in the foreground and flattens into smooth washes towards the horizon, so the flowers feel close enough to touch while the distance stays hazy. It reads as a bright summer field at midday, warm and open rather than detailed.
The narrow upright shape suits a hallway end wall, a stairwell, or the strip of wall beside a door or window. The reds and golds warm up white or grey rooms and sit well with timber floors, linen sofas and rattan. Hang it alone, or pair it with a second vertical canvas in a dining area.
