About Autumn Creek
A narrow creek runs from the far distance down to the lower right of the canvas, its water painted in pale blue, white and mint strokes with a small drop of water over rocks near the centre. Banks on either side are thick with orange, gold and red groundcover laid on in short knife strokes. Slender birch-like trunks with white and grey bark rise on both sides, their canopies dabbed in yellow, apricot and scarlet. A clump of pale spiky grass sits at the front edge of the water.
The sky is left almost bare, a soft wash of white and light blue that pushes light down the length of the creek. It is a bright, warm autumn scene with heavy paint texture and very little fine detail.
Suits a living room with warm timber floors, a dining room with tan leather chairs, or a hallway that needs colour at the end of it. It works against white, cream or soft grey walls and sits well with rattan, brass lamps and linen in oatmeal or rust tones.
