About White Horse Curve
A pale horse fills the square canvas, its head turned down and to the left so the neck sweeps in a broad crescent from the lower left corner up to the ears at the top. The coat is built from thick cream, ivory and pale olive strokes laid on with a knife, with ridges of paint catching along the crest of the neck and the cheek. Dark, almost black marks mark the nostril, the eye and the flicked forelock, while soft dusty pink and ochre smudges warm the muzzle and shoulder.
The background is loose and abstract: vertical scrapes of grey-green, mushroom brown and a hint of blue, with a brighter salmon streak at the upper left. It reads as an animal portrait pared back to shape and paint, calm but physical, where the horse is suggested rather than drawn in detail.
Suits a hallway, dining room or bedroom where the wall colour is soft - chalky white, putty or sage. Works above a timber sideboard or a linen bedhead, and sits well with rattan, aged leather and brass. A good single square piece for a country home or an equestrian-themed room.
