About Last Night's Dream
A tall portrait composition filled with pouring, marbled shapes that run from the top edge down to a denser base. The upper two thirds are dominated by soft white and pale silver-grey veils, cut through by a thin dark charcoal streak that falls diagonally like a crack. Threads of lime and olive green trace the edges of the swirls, following the flow lines rather than sitting in blocks. Towards the bottom the tones deepen into slate blue and near-black pools with white feathering at their rims.
The texture reads as wet, layered pigment with fine ripples, hairline veins and soft-edged bleeding where one colour has run into the next. Nothing is drawn or outlined; every shape is formed by the movement of the colour itself. Its character is cool and weather-like, closer to an aerial view of ice and moss than to any solid object, calm at the top and heavier and more dramatic at the base.
The cool white ground suits bathrooms, ensuites and bedrooms with grey tiling or pale timber. In a living room it works above a charcoal or linen sofa, and the green threads pick up indoor plants, eucalyptus stems and brass or silver fittings. Its upright shape fits narrow walls, hallway ends and the space beside a doorway. Browse more silver and grey art, multi-coloured art, or read Art above the bed: what size and how high.
